HCA Virginia Names New COO of Chippenham Hospital

Chad-ChristiansonCongratulations to Chad Christianson, the newly named chief operating officer to Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. Chad was appointed by HCA Virginia and Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Hospitals CEO, Tim McManus in July.

Well into his new role, Chad leads the day-to-day operations of the 466-bed hospital, including the Levinson Heart Institute, Center for Surgical Innovation and the Level III ER.

Formerly COO of HCA affiliate in the Gulf Coast Division, West Houston Medical Center, Chad's experience includes campus expansion in women's and cardiac services and the opening and development of a freestanding ER. He also played a key role in executing strategic initiatives that led to significant growth in cardiac, women's and neuroscience services.

CEO McManus praised Chad for his established and trusted leadership adding that his guidance and expertise will help build on the foundation of Chippenham's exceptional care. "We look forward to working with him in his role as chief operating officer and are certain he will make a positive impact on our community."

Chad joined HCA in 2010 when he was accepted into the COO Development program as associate administrator. He received his bachelor's from the University of Florida and his MBA and Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a member of ACHE as well as the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
