Stuart Downs, DNP, MSA, RN, NEA-BS, CENP, CPHQ has been named chief nursing officer for Eastside Medical Center. Board certified in nursing administration and healthcare quality, Stuart will oversee patient care operations at the hospital.
Stuart has over 18 years of progressive nursing experience, including key management positions from a number of facilities.
In his most recent role, he served as CNO/vice president of nursing and quality services at Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers, Georgia.
"Stuart's talent, leadership and perspective are readily apparent," says Eastside CEO Kim Ryan. "He brings to us his vast knowledge gained from working and leading in several hospitals of various sizes. He's a dynamic and welcome addition to this team."
Stuart started his healthcare career as surgical intensive care staff nurse, then progressed to supervisory and managerial roles such as nurse manager of rehabilitation, director of quality assurance and performance improvement and director of critical care and telemetry services.

Stuart earned his bachelor's in nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University, a master's in nursing from Vanderbilt University, a master's in administration from Central Michigan University and a doctor of nursing from Vanderbilt University.
