Congratulations to Cynthia Nicholas, the first to be promoted from HCA's Accelerated Market Program (AMP) to Chief Nursing Officer at St. David's Georgetown Hospital.
Cynthia has more than twenty years of healthcare experience, having served in direct patient care leadership positions with responsibility for nursing units, respiratory therapy, quality, education and risk management.
She started with St. David's HealthCare in 2011, serving as acute director for St. David's Georgetown Hospital where she provided for the medical/surgical units, intensive care unit and cardiopulmonary department.
Prior to her time at St. David's, Cynthia served as administrative director of critical care services at HCA affiliate Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. There, she provided operational and clinical leadership, and administrative direction for the emergency department, intensive care unit, cardiac catheter lab and trauma services.
Cynthia served as the director of quality improvement and risk management at Valley Regional before her role as administrative director.
Her extensive background in healthcare leadership includes roles as corporate director for the office of the CNO at Baylor Healthcare System in Dallas, the director of organization development and education at Piedmont Health System in Atlanta, the director for the Center for Education, Development and Research at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, and other roles as an ICU nurse, flight nurse and nursing school instructor.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Florida International University in Miami and earned her Master of Science degree in nursing from the University of Miami.
It was her advanced clinical and leadership experience that contributed to Cynthia being selected for the Accelerated Market Program for CNO Development. She was one of only six to be selected and the first to receive a promotion to CNO at St. David's Georgetown as a result.
HCA's new AMP curriculum is a supplement to the Executive Development program and is designed to prepare high-performing employees for senior leadership roles in their market.
Cynthia began her transition into her CNO role in December 2012.
Congratulations Cyndi!
