Greg Seiler CEOGreg Seiler has been with Methodist Healthcare since 1992, serving first with Methodist Hospital. In 1995 he was named Vice President of Cardiovascular and Neuroscience Services where he served until 2001. He's been CEO of Rio Grande Regional Hospital until his new role this month as CEO of Metropolitan Methodist Hospital.

His first order of business? To oversee a $50M expansion of the Metropolitan Hospital in downtown San Antonio, to include a seven story, 85k sq. ft. ICU Tower with 48 new beds. In addition there will be an operating-room recovery and a gastrointestinal lab.

“The growth that's occurring both in downtown San Antonio and south of San Antonio has created the need for more beds,” said Greg.

While the project has grown out of its own needs, the timing couldn't be better. Christus Santa Rosa Health System is closing its downtown adult-services location, creating a genuine opportunity for healthcare expansion in the area.

The Metropolitan project, funded by parent Methodist Healthcare System, an affiliate of HCA, is expected to take eighteen months to complete and will create about 35 new jobs for downtown San Antonio.

“From the inception of the partnership between Methodist Healthcare Ministries and HCA, Methodist Healthcare has been dedicated and committed to meeting the health care needs of downtown San Antonio," Greg said. "The Metropolitan Methodist Hospital campus has evolved and expanded over the years with the addition of a free-standing women’s pavilion, a major emergency department renovation, two additional medical office buildings and now a major expansion that includes the building of an ICU tower, housing much needed critical care beds.

"Over the past six years, we have invested more than $105 million into Metropolitan Methodist Hospital and we envision more growth in the near future as the footprint of our center city expands.”
