The idea was to consolidate the information into one databank, the Teradata Patient Accounting data warehouse, and find a way for clients to use the data to gauge business performance though customizable metrics.
What Parallon did through its Business Performance Group, the unit that manages revenue cycle services and consulting, was to partner with a Tampa business-intelligence service company to silo the data from 45 reports on 20 key revenue indicators into mobile dashboards that translate the information into user-friendly summaries and graphics.
"We listened to our clients' needs to develop a better way for them to conveniently retrieve and analyze data," said Dr. Michael Taylor, manager of business intelligence at Parallon. "Our dashboards make the experience easier and more efficient, minimizing the time it may have taken to review data from several hours to several seconds."
The tool provides a summary view of the data which can be drilled down into to look at specific metrics. This provides a broad survey of performance indicators.
"The executives are very mobile, especially if they're overseeing multiple facilities," says Shannon Dauchot, senior vice president for revenue cycles in Parallon's Business Performance Group. "They want to be able to see their key indicators wherever they are."
"Now, in 15 seconds we can get data that would have taken two to three hours to pull," said Chris Harrison, director of financial analysis and reporting.
Parallon is one of only ten organizations to receive the honor by enabling better business decisions through enhanced business intelligence.
