Starting August 1, 2012, Richard Hammett will leave his position as COO of St. David's Medical Center in Austin, Texas, for his new role with Medical Center of Aurora and Centennial Medical Plaza as their Chief Executive Officer.
The news came from HCA HealthONE in that latter part of June this year. Richard replaces former CEO, John Hill.
“Richard will be a great addition to our team in Colorado,” says Sylvia Young, President and Chief Executive Officer of HealthONE and the HCA Continental Division. “He brings more than 17 years of hospital experience, including building and growing the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute into an internationally recognized program. Richard’s passion for collaborating with physicians to deliver top-notch specialty care meshes perfectly with our ‘Patients First’ approach to healthcare.”
Prior to his five-year role as COO at St. David's, Richard was the Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning and Development at HCA's Central and West Texas Division. He was also Administrator and Vice President for Care Operations for Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee along with a variety of other roles in his ten years there.
Richard has master's degrees in health administration and business administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He earned his bachelor's in business from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He is the proud parent of three with his wife, Amy.
Congratulations, Richard.
