Jonathon joined HCA in 2006 where he now sits as President of Clinical and Physician Services Group and Chief Medical Officer and has been named frequently on Modern Healthcare's list of 50 Most Influential Executives in Healthcare ever since.
Before joining HCA, Perlin had national recognition as “the Honorable Jonathan B. Perlin”, Under Secretary for Health in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
He was nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate as the senior-most physician in the Federal Government and CEO of the Veterans Health Administration under which title he led the nation's largest integrated health system.
Jonathan currently chairs the Health & Human Services' Health IT Standards Committee, lending major support to the development of EHR systems in hospitals across the nation.
He's sought the improvement of healthcare worker influenza vaccine rates and has worked to reduce deliveries in mothers in less than 39 weeks of pregnancy.
Among various other boards and commissions, Dr. Perlin has served on the National Quality Forum, the Joint Commission and Meharry Medical College. He is one of nine honorary members of the Special Forces Association and Green Berets, holds faculty appointments at Vanderbuilt University as adjunct professor of Medicine and Biomedical Informatics and at VCU as adjunct professor of Health Administration.
