The event marked a construction milestone for the new 30-bed, 144,000 square-foot acute-care facility.

Complete with medical/surgical beds, intensive care beds, an emergency department, labor and delivery and postpartum recovery suites, dedicated cesarean-section operating rooms and a general nursery, Pearland will also feature an imaging department with digital mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, computerized tomography, catheterization lab, echocardiogram testing and nuclear medicine modalities.

"We are excited about the progression of Pearland Medical Center, a hospital designed to meet the growing needs of Pearland and its surrounding communities," said Pearland Medical Center CEO, Matt Dixon. "Our 'Signing the Steel' event moves us closer to providing the residents of Pearland and Brazoria County with convenient, high-quality healthcare."

The new hospital will be located on a 48-acre site currently home to a full-service, freestanding emergency department, imaging center, and three-story, 80,000 square foot medical office building.
