Charlotte Tyson, MHA, BSN, FACHE, was named by the LewisGale Regional Health System as CEO of the hospital in Alleghany, effective at the start of February.
The 205-bed LewisGale hospital is the second-largest private employer in Alleghany County.
Charlotte has been with the Alleghany hospital for twenty-nine years, serving in various leadership positions. She started as a staff nurse in 1984, quickly moving through the ranks as charge nurse, director of Oncology/Medical/Surgical services, and director of Quality/Risk Management.
In 2001, Charlotte was promoted to chief nursing officer and in 2005 took over as chief operating officer. By 2013 she made chief nursing executive for the LewisGale Regional Health System where she served prior to her current promotion.

Under her leadership, LewisGale Medical Center achieved numerous national rankings for highest quality care in the nation which included recognition by the Joint Commission, Healthgrades, Leap Frog, Anthem and others.
Charlotte earned her associate degree in nursing at Virginia Western Community College, her BSN from the Medical College of Virginia and her MHA from Pfeiffer University.
Along with being a Fellow on the American College of Healthcare Executives, she serves on numerous community boards.
