Replacing Margaret Lewis who recently announced her retirement after a 37-year career with HCA, Robert F. Carrel will assume the responsibilities of president for the HCA Capital Division starting January 1, 2014.

Outgoing Lewis was a lifelong employee with HCA who started her career as a student nurse at Chippenham Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. She was named division president in 2004.

"Margaret's leadership has been highlighted by growth that brought quality healthcare to more patients in the Richmond area and throughout the Capital Division," said Chuck Hall, president of HCA's National Group. "Working her way up to division president gave her a unique appreciation for how hospitals can best meet the needs of patients. We will miss her and wish her well."

As the new division president, Rob will oversee the 17 hospitals in the division spanning Virginia, New Hampshire, Kentucky and Indiana.

Capital Division's chief financial officer since 2006, Rob started his career with HCA in 1991 as assistant controller. He has since served as CFO for many HCA affiliate facilities in the South Florida region, including HCA's market of Fort Myers, his most recent position.

"Rob is a skilled leader and an HCA veteran who is deeply familiar with our culture and the Capital Division's operations," said Hall. "His experience in a number of senior positions in both hospital and multi-facility settings will serve him well in his new role."

Rob earned his bachelor's in business administration from the University of Louisville in 1990.

Congratulations, Rob.
