Greg Madsen, chief executive officer of LewisGale Hospital Alleghany since 2008, has been named the new CEO for Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center effective January 1, 2014.
Before his tenure with LewisGale Alleghany, Greg worked at the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System in Kansas, serving as administrator for St. Joseph Hospital, as regional vice-president of support services and as administrative vice president for Bethany Medical Center.
In his early career he worked at Tenet Healthcare Corporation as assistant vice president of business development in Phoenix and senior director of managed care in Santa Monica.
"Greg brings outstanding credentials and leadership skills to this role,” said both Margaret Lewis, president of HCA's Capital Division and senior executive of HCA Virginia, and Dan Nicholson, president of Spotsylvania Regional's board of trustees, in a joint statement. "He will continue Spotsylvania Regional’s momentum and keep us focused on quality and safety, program development, and physician and employee engagement."
Greg says he's delighted to join Spotsylvania Regional. "This facility has an outstanding leadership team and group of employees and a highly skilled medical staff. It's a wonderful community asset, and I'm honored to have been chosen as its next CEO."
Greg received his bachelor's in health science and his MPH degree in health services, both from San Diego State University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has volunteered his time for a number of community organizations.
