Charles Gressle has been named as the new chief executive officer for the Medical Center of Plano.
An experienced healthcare executive with 18 years in the industry, Charles served as chief operating officer at Medical City Dallas Hospital and Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas and as COO of The Women's Hospital in Houston before his promotion to Plano.
He was also a senior vice president in the HCA Continental Division, where he led the strategy, business development and growth agendas for the Denver, Oklahoma City and Wichita markets.
"Charles is an exceptional leader whose abilities to motivate and build consensus, combined with business acumen, make him an ideal choice to lead The Medical Center of Plano," said HCA North Texas Division president Erol Akdamar. "He has been a dynamic force at Medical City since arriving in August of last year."
While at Medical City, Charles led an ongoing $114 million expansion and renovation project that included the addition of 100 beds, an overhaul of the ED and a four-story expansion of Tower E.
Charles also oversaw the continued growth of the emergency and cardiovascular services at Medical City.
He says he looks forward to joining the Plano family and expanding on the hospital's rich legacy in the region.
"The Medical Center of Plano’s $70+ million investment in new bricks, steel, equipment and other assets is exciting, but our most valuable asset is our people. I am eager to partner with our physicians, employees, volunteers and community leaders as we grow and continue to care for and improve lives in Plano, Collin County and North Texas."
Charles' new role is effective November 19, 2013.
