keeneth-dozier-riverside-cmoDr. Kenneth Dozier, M.D. was named as Riverside Community Hospital's new chief medical officer last month.

Kenneth joined Riverside Community in 1988 as a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist and served as chair of the OB/GYN department from January 2005 through December 2010.

Following that, Kenneth assumed the role of president of the medical staff, serving as chair of the Medical Executive Committee from January 2011 to December 2012 where he was responsible for oversight of clinical activities throughout the hospital, system-wide quality initiatives and daily operations of the medical staff office.

Before joining Riverside, Kenneth served in multiple leadership capacities including chief of obstetrical medicine at Greater El Monte Community Hospital in Los Angeles.

He joined Riverside after relocating to the Inland Empire in 1988 and assumed the duties of providing OB/GYN care and serving on the board of directors.

"Dr. Dozier has demonstrated the vision and leadership skills that will benefit RCH, our patients and their families," said Patrick Brilliant, president and CEO. "Dr. Dozier has been on staff here for a number of years. He has worked closely with many of our physicians and staff, and has built relationships that will serve him well in this role. He is known for his compassion and respect; and his patients and colleagues hold him in high esteem. I am confident that he will bring outstanding value to the hospital and our patients as a core member of our executive leadership team."

“Dr. Dozier will be a key member of the executive team," said Lawrence Clark, M.D., current president of medical staff. "He is a proven leader who is committed to enhancing the hospital's ability to provide the very best care to our patients, including patient safety and continuing to improve the quality of care."

"This is an extraordinary opportunity to emphasize that our first and foremost obligation is to our patients," Kenneth said. "I am excited to take on this role at this particular time as we begin to see tremendous changes in healthcare.  My primary focus will be building and maintaining excellence, improving the quality of care, clinical effectiveness and doing everything possible to strengthen the health, safety and well-being of all of our patients…This role affords me the opportunity to bridge the gaps of administrative and clinical aspects of health care."

As chief medical officer, Kenneth will oversee several activities and initiatives, including the final phases of electronic health records implementation, performance improvement in the hospital's various clinical services and medical directors and physician leaders of several hospital programs.

Kenneth earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1975. His leadership experience began with serving as president of his medical school class during his first three years there. He completed his internship and residency at Indiana University Medical Center.

He is board certified by the American Board of OB/GYN, is a member of the Riverside County Medical Association, Society of Robotic Surgeons and a Fellow in the American College of OB/GYN.
