On June 13, Jeanna Barnard, former Chief Operations Officer of Bayshore Medical Center, was named Chief Executive Officer of the same by HCA Gulf Coast Division President, Maura Walsh. Jeanna is a 15-year veteran of the Gulf Coast Division with twelve of those years in various leadership roles at Bayshore Medical. She has over 20 years in healthcare experience in total.
“I am looking forward to my new role at Bayshore Medical Center,” Barnard said. “It’s a privilege to work with this impressively talented and dedicated team of employees, physicians, board members and volunteers. I’m delighted to be part of the future of quality, compassionate and innovative healthcare services for the families we serve.”
Walsh says Jeanna brings "a solid record of achievements to Bayshore Medical Center and East Houston Regional Medical Center. Her ability to establish healthcare initiatives through comprehensive strategic planning will further elevate the level of care and growth at BMC and EHRMC.”
Jeanna started her healthcare career at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital before taking on executive roles at East Houston Regional Medical Center. She earned her master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and serves on the board of directors for the ACHE-Southeast Texas Chapter.
Jeanna is also a member of the Pasadena Rotary Club and a member of the Board of Directors for the San Jacinto College Foundation.
In her month and a half as CEO, Jeanna has seen Bayshore receive the Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award for the TMF Health Quality Institute, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Texas, which acknowledges hospitals for improving care related to acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.
She has cited the recognition as a “significant achievement that demonstrates our commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare. Our physicians, nurses, employees and volunteers are dedicated to putting in the tremendous number of hours required to enhance quality improvement efforts because using proven standards saves lives.”
She succeeds former CEO, Jeff Holland, who retired May 31, 2012.
Congratulations on both fronts, Jeanna.
