Jyric Sims, a native New Orleanian, has been named the new chief operating officer for Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
Jyric, the two-year veteran COO and VP for St. Lucie Medical Center and former Executive Development Program graduate, is an experienced healthcare executive once honored in Ebony's "Young Leaders of the Future" for his pursuit of excellence in his career and community involvement.
"I am excited to be returning to my home state of Louisiana and joining the Tulane Medical Center team this December," Sims told Biz New Orleans. "I am honored to be part of such a distinguished academic medical center and look forward to serving the New Orleans community."
While at St. Lucie, Jyric was responsible for leading operations, hospital staffing, and over $20 million in construction projects for the medical center, including a 16,000-square-foot ED expansion.
He served as Associate COO II and Ethics and Compliance Officer at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center while participating in the Executive Development Program, and served more than four years as Director and Administrative Fellow at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Board certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of ACHE, Jyric is also a certified project manager as a PMP by the Project Management Institute. He also has an extensive list of progressive administrative posts under his belt including roles at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Sentara Health System in Norfolk, Virginia, Gadsden Regional Medical Center in Alabama and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
As mentioned earlier he is an active community leader, serving on the board of directors for many organizations including the LSU National Diversity Advisory Board. Jyric received his bachelor's from LSU in Baton Rouge and his Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
His new role as Tulane COO begins this month.
