overland-ceo-kevin-hicksKevin J. Hicks has been named for a second tenure as chief executive officer of Overland Park Regional Medical Center by HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City's largest healthcare provider.

Kevin first served as CEO of the 350-bed acute-care hospital in 2003 before a lateral move in 2006 took him to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, also part of the Midwest system.

With more than 30 years of experience, Kevin is the consummate healthcare professional. He started with HCA in 1987 in El Paso, Texas before relocating to Johnston County and Overland Park Regional in 1993.

In his first role as CEO, Kevin developed the state-of-the-art private level IIIB NICU and Women's Center, which has since grown into the region's leader in neonatal critical care.

His strategic vision, leadership, compassion and relationship-building skills allowed Research Medical Center to flourish in its staff recruitment, patient and visitor experience and market presence. Kevin acted as ambassador for the Midwest community, developing vital relationships with several organizations.

"Kevin is a highly effective leader and an accomplished hospital administrator who is respected as a consensus builder and is adept at creating authentic, credible and lasting collaborative relationships with community leaders and decision makers," says M.L. Lagarde III, President, HCA Midwest Health System.  "His knowledge of the Greater Kansas City and Johnson County areas, along with an impressive ability to form robust, credible and lasting partnerships with employees and physicians, makes him the perfect fit to once again lead Overland Park Regional Medical Center."

Kevin said he is excited about returning to OPRMC. "I, along with the hospital's strong leadership team, will continue to focus on strategic initiatives that are deeply meaningful to staff, physicians and patients, including developing a culture of excellence in the patient and visitor experience and improving physician engagement. I am committed to fostering the collaborative partnership within the community, which is a vital part of Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s mission and vision."

Kevin also received warm welcomes back from Barb Brown, Board of Trustees chair and incoming chair, Tony Moulton.

And we wish to extend the same. Congratulations to you, Kevin, and welcome back.
