Chief Executive Officer Named at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center

mark-sims-ceo-grand-strandGrand Strand Regional has named Mark Sims the new chief executive officer. Mark steps in for former CEO Doug White, who retired in September.

An HCA veteran of 20 years, Mark began his career as a director of food and nutrition services. Most recently he served as CEO of TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center, a 109-bed facility in Smyrna, Tennessee. Before that he served as CEO of Parkridge East Medical Center in Nashville and CEO of Grandview Medical in Jasper.

"Mark Sims has a proven track record in quality outcomes, employee satisfaction and medical staff relations," said Jamie Thomas, HCA/South Atlantic Division president. "Mark is positioned well to lead Grand Strand Regional Medical Center as they continue to grow in clinical excellence and enhance their position as the region’s healthcare leader. He and his family will be an asset to the Myrtle Beach community."

Mark is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He received his bachelor's in human environment sciences from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa and his MBA in healthcare from Belmont University in Nashville.

He has served on the advisory boards of The Hope Clinic in Tennessee, the American Heart Association and the Rutherford Tennessee Chamber of Commerce.

Mark joins Grand Strand on December 2, 2013.
